- Out of spec media.
- Dirty or obstructed paper path.
- Clean paper path components.
- Worn Pickup (or other) Rollers and/or Separation Pad.
- The Pickup (or other) Rollers and/or Separation Pad will need to be replaced.
- Wrong length paper or incorrect software paper size selected.

Insert correct length paper or select correct paper size in software.
- Defective Exit Sensor.
- The Exit Sensor needs to be replaced.
- Defective Input (paper out) Sensor.
-
The Input Sensor needs to be replaced.
- Paper Cassettes not correctly loaded.
- Load Paper Cassettes correctly.
- Bad solenoid operation.
- Verify proper solenoid operation and if need be, have them replaced.
- Bad gear(s) or gears not meshing in drive train.
- The bad gears will need to be replaced.
- Bad Main Motor or Drive Circuit.
- The Main Motor or Drive Circuit will need to be replaced.
- Bad Delivery Mechanism or coupler gear to main drive.
- Inspect and replace Delivery Mechanism or coupler gear.
- Bad Main Motor Drive Circuitry.
- The Drive Circuitry Controller will need to be replaced.

- Paper Cassette is empty or missing.
- Add paper and/or insert paper cassette.
- Paper Cassette is not seated correctly.
- Paper Out flag is broken or stuck.

The paper pick-up assembly might need to be replaced.
- Defective DC Controller PCA.
- The DC Controller will need to be replaced.
- Tray 1 (the MP tray) is empty.

Add paper to Tray 1 then press GO button to continue.

- Printer door open.

Check that the toner cartridge is fully seated and that the cover is firmly closed.
- DC Power Supply malfunction.
- The DC power supply may need to be repaired or replaced.
- DC Controller malfunction.

The DC Controller may need to be repaired or replaced.
- The plastic tab on the top cover may be missing.

Check to see if the plactic tab on the cover is not missing or broken.

- Too much data or data too complex.

Reduce the complexity of the print job.
- Complex print job.
- Turn image adapt and page protect to ON or AUTO (can be set within HP Explorer's Remote Control Panel).
- Not enough memory.

Add optional memory module.

Service
Errors (Displayed while pressing front panel button) |

When all four lights are
on, there is a service error. Press and hold the front
panel button to display the error code. If all four lights
remain on while pressing the button, cycle the power. If
the condition continues the formatter PCA will need to be
replaced. |

- Temporary error.

Turn the power off for 20 minutes or more to clear temporary 50 Error.
- Low/unstable power.

Make sure the AC power is stable.
- Improperly seated Fuser.
- The Fuser unit may not be seated correctly in the printer.
- Defective Fuser.
- The Fuser will need to be replaced.

- Temporary error.
- Laser/scanner Assembly not seated correctly.

The cable assembly may have come loose.
- Defective Laser/scanner assembly.

The Laser/scanner assembly will need to be replaced.

- Temporary error.
- Laser/scanner Assembly not seated correctly.

The cable assembly may have come loose.
- Laser/scanner cable problem.
- The cable connecting the Laser/scanner to the DC Controller PCA may be defective and will need to be replaced.
- Defective Laser/scanner assembly.

The Laser/scanner assembly will need to be replaced.

- An error has occurred in the RAM.
- Defective or incompatible memory card.

Power off the printer , remove any additional memory, then tuen the printer back on. If the message clears replace the memory card.
- Defective Formatter PCA.
- The Formatter PCA will need to be replaced.

- Defective DC Controller PCA.
- The DC Controller PCA will need to be replaced.
- Defective Formatter PCA.
- The Formatter PAC will need to be replaced.
- Unstable Power Source.
- Check to make sure there is an adequate power source.

- Bad fan cable.
- Fan cable may be loose or broken.
- Defective fan.
- The fan will need to be replaced.

- Improperly fitted SIMM.
- Defective SIMM.

The SIMM will need to be replaced.
- Defective Formatter.

- The printer may be in Intelligent Off mode.
- Press the button, or open the top door.
- Power is not supplied to the printer.
- Check the power cord connections and power source.
- Defective DC Controller PCA.
- The DC Controller PCA will need to be replaced.
- Defective connector between the DC Controller and the Formatter.
- The connector will need to be replaced.
