Light Indication

Possible Causes

Sokution

None of the lights are on.

The internal ROM is defective.

The printer needs the main Printed-Circuit Assembly (PCA) replaced.

The Change Cartridge light is on. The print cartridge carriage cannot move. Check the carriage path for physical obstruction.
The paper light is on. Paper is jammed. Remove paper or other obstruction from the paper path.

How to clear paper jams

The Out of Paper Sensor (OOPS) is defective. Ensure that the OOPS flag is aligned correctly.
The Power and Paper Feed lights are on. The internal RAM is defective. The printer needs the main Printed-Circuit Assembly (PCA) replaced.
The Power and Change Carriage lights are on. The printer's internal electronically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) is defective. The printer needs the main Printed-Circuit Assembly (PCA) replaced.
The Paper Feed and Change Cartridge lights are on. Service station stall.

Open the access door. Gently push or tap the print cartridge cradle against the end of the printer. If this does not correct the error, follow the steps below.

Disconnect the power from the printer by unplugging the power cord from the side of the printer. Move the print cartridge cradle away from the right side of the printer. Locate the capping station inside the printer on the right side. Manually rotate the capping station forward and backward until the rectangular rubber cap is facing up. Ensure that a black pen is installed in the printer. Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on. If all the lights continue flashing, the above steps may be repeated. If the error conditions cannot be cleared, the printer will need service.

All three lights are on. (Not Flashing) Firmware logic error or hardware error The printer needs the main Printed-Circuit Assembly (PCA) replaced.

HOW TO CLEAR A PAPER JAM

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove the paper from the paper tray.
  • Open the printer door.

NOTE: Open the printer door approximately 30 degrees from the front cover (60 degrees from the paper tray).

  • Remove the printer door by grasping it by its sides and then pulling the door toward you.

NOTE: Remove the door by grasping it by its sides, then pulling the door upwards.

WARNING: If the door is opened all the way, the hinges will bind on the front cover and will be damaged if an attempt is made to pull the door forward. By angling the door about 30 degrees from the closed position, the door may then be pulled upward (not forward) to remove it. This may take some force the first time the door is removed.

  • Open the paper separator (the flap that separates the printed pages from the blank sheets) by pulling it toward you. This gives you a better grip on the jammed paper.
  • Grip the jammed paper firmly by its sides and pull it out slowly.
  • After clearing the paper jam, close the paper separator.
  • Reattach the printer door by first placing the door flat on the paper tray. Then align the hinges on the printer door with the pins on the printer. Press the printer door in until the printer door clicks into place.
  • Close the printer door.
  • Load the paper and try printing again.
